KURDISTAN
The PKK’s 12th Congress was successfully held in the Medya Defense Zones between 5 and 7 May. Detailed information and documents concerning the results and decisions of the 12th Congress will be shared with the public in the near future, the PKK said.
HPG released the balance sheet for April, reporting 9,790 attacks from the air and ground, including with chemical weapons, phosphorus bombs, and banned weapons against guerrillas in ceasefire position. Four guerrillas were martyred in the attacks.
The Turkish army continues its attacks against guerrilla areas in northern Iraq despite a ceasefire declared by the PKK following Abdullah Öcalan's call for peace and democratic society.
The occupying Turkish army bombed the guerrilla areas 691 times. As guerrillas in the defense position responded to the attacks, one soldier was killed and two others injured.
