At least 28 people have been killed in attacks carried out by ISIS cells in the Syrian desert, reported the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). According to the UK-based observatory, 22 members of the Russian-backed “Liwaa Al-Quds” were killed in an attack that targeted a military bus on Friday night. Seven other people were injured in an attack near the village of Al-Taybah in the eastern part of the country.

On the other hand, the number of fatalities among regime forces in the attack, which was carried out by ISIS members on regime headquarters in Hasarat village in Al-Bokamal countryside in eastern Deir ez-Zor, has increased to six. Two other regime soldiers were also captured during the attack.

The terrorist militia ISIS controlled large areas in Syria and Iraq years ago and is now considered militarily defeated. However, ISIS cells are still active in both countries and carry out attacks.

According to SOHR statistics, the number of fatalities in military operations in the Syrian desert since early 2024 has increased to 329.
