The body of Aziz Güler (Rasih Kurtuluş), who has recently lost his life fighting ISIS gangs in Rojava, is still being denied entry into Turkey.

The body of Aziz Güler (Rasih Kurtuluş), who has recently lost his life fighting ISIS gangs in Rojava, is still being denied entry into Turkey.

The family of United Forces of Freedom (BÖG) Commander Aziz Güler (Rasih Kurtuluş), who lost his life in Serêkaniyê on September 21 while defending the Rojava Revolution, has come to Suruç for the second time. Güler’s brother Ersin Umut Güler and his lawyers filed application to the Governorate for the second time to receive the body of the fallen BÖG commander. The application has been rejected by the Suruç Governorate again due to an invisible order by the Council of Ministers.

GOVERNOR: I WOULD ALLOW THE ENTRY IF IT WERE UP TO MY DECISION

Giving information about the application filed to the governorate, Lawyer Sinan Varlık said “The Governor told us that he found the application lawful but that he still could not allow the entry”.

According to the information Varlık provided, Suruç Governor Abdullah Çiftçi said “I would immediately allow the entry if it were left to my decision. But it has nothing to do with me; it is Ankara that denies permission”.

Lawyer Varlık on the other hand told to Governor Çiftçi that they could not reach such the order of the Council of Ministers, stressing that; “There exists no judicial provision to disallow the burial of a body”.

The lawyer said they will apply to the Constitutional Court this week and afterwards file another application to the European Court of Human Rights demanding a precaution. EctHR answers the applications for precaution within two days, recalled Varlık and added that they will try all the possible judicial ways to receive Güler's body. “It is clear that the body of our client and the others are being denied delivery by the decision of the Palace”, said Varlık.

GÜLER'S FATHER STAYS IN ROJAVA

Arriving at Suruç one day before the Eid, Güler’s father Mehmet Güler and his brother Ersin Umut Güler, accompanied by HDP Urfa deputy İbrahim Ayhan, applied to Suruç Governorate demanding permission to take the body of Güler, while the governor rejected the application by saying "The body will not be allowed into Turkey in line with an order from the Council of Ministers".

The family of Güler crossed into Kobanê together with the families of 16 YPG fighters thanks to the permission issued for the Eid visits. Father Güler decided to stay in Rojava until the body of his son is allowed into Turkey.
