Release of Rozerin Kalkan delayed by 11 months

The release of Rozerin Kalkan, who is being held in Şakran, was delayed by 11 months and thus prevented.

The release of Rozerin Kalkan, who is being held in Izmir Şakran Women's Closed Prison, was postponed for 11 months and prevented by the Administration and Observation Board.

Kalkan, who was taken into custody and put in prison on the allegation of "being a member of a terrorist organization" on 11 August 2016, was expected to be released on Tuesday, but it was learned that her release was postponed.

Kalkan called her family and told them that her release had been postponed for 11 months. Kalkan, who refused to appear at the Administration and Observation Board to which she was summoned the previous week, said that she was informed that her release was blocked because she is considered to still "being active in an illegal organization".

Şerife Kalkan, mother of Rozerin, applied to the Human Rights Association (IHD) Mardin Branch, said: "My daughter did not do anything to regret, so why should she say that she regrets something?"
