Writer and journalist Mehmet Serhat Polatsoy was arrested after the Court of Cassation upheld his 7-year and 6-month prison sentence for “membership of a terrorist organization”. Polatsoy was taken into custody at his workplace in the Karaköprü district of Urfa (Riha).

After the verdict was read to him at the Urfa Courthouse, Polatsoy was arrested and sent to the Urfa T Type Closed Prison.

Writer and journalist Mehmet Serhat Polatsoy was tried on 30 April 2013, and sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison.
