Women's literature and art festival revives traditional crafts

The 10th Women's Literature and Art Festival continued in Qamishlo with events celebrating women’s voices, colors, and creativity.

The 10th Women's Literature and Art Festival, organized under the slogan “Free art with the voice and color of women” by the Cizir (Cizîr) Canton Culture Council and the Hîlala Zêrîn Women's Cultural Movement, continued with its second day of events.

Women took part in the festival through two artistic disciplines: painting and handicrafts. In the field of painting, 30 women artists took part in a total of 45 works. In the field of handicrafts, 23 associations, organizations, and groups joined the event, as well as individuals from Kurdish, Arab, Armenian, Syriac, and Yazidi (Êzidî) communities.

Visitors to the festival toured the various sections and purchased artworks that captured their interest.

On the second day of events, artist Sumeya Mihemed performed a selection of classical and revolutionary songs, and the Martyr Azad folklore group from Êzîdxan presented traditional Kurdish folk dances.

The 10th Women's Literature and Art Festival, which began on 17 April, will conclude tomorrow (19 April 2025) with the awarding of participants who excelled in competitions, literary works, and artistic performances throughout the festival.
