Guerrillas from the Free Women’s Troops (YJA Star) spoke to ANF on the 29th anniversary of the martyrdom of Martyr Zîlan (Zeynep Kınacı), who carried out a self-sacrificing action in Dersim on June 30, 1996.

YJA Star guerrilla Jînda Zerdeşt, commemorating the Freedom Martyrs in the person of Zîlan, said: "Comrade Zîlan was a one-year fighter. In a short time, she got to know the Leader and embarked on a path of great action. Comrade Zîlan did not carry out an action of self-destruction, as the Leader had indicated; her action was one of rebuilding life. She carried out that action for a free life.”

Jînda Zerdeşt vowed that YJA Star guerrillas will always follow Zîlan’s line, which, she said, means correctly understanding and implementing the ideas of Leader Öcalan.

Viyan Dilsoz, another YJA Star guerrilla, stated: “Comrade Zîlan’s action dealt a great shock to the occupiers. When you think about it, you wonder how she could carry out such a magnificent action. But you understand that she was able to do it because she understood the leader correctly.”

Viyan Dilsoz described the impact that the martyr Zîlan had on her own life, saying, “Comrade Zîlan is the symbol of a free spirit in our lives, a symbol of free life, a symbol of being yourself. Each of us must become a Zîlan, and this can be achieved by reading and understanding the Leader.”
