Three women murdered, four female lawyers subjected to violence in custody in Kurdistan Region

According to Rojnews data, 14 women were murdered in the Kurdistan Region, while 10 women died under suspicious circumstances, and 2 women were injured in the first five months of 2025.

According to data compiled by Rojnews, three women were murdered in different cities of the Kurdistan Region in June 2025, while four female lawyers were subjected to violence in custody.

The cases include suspicious deaths and murders resulting from domestic violence:

- On June 2, high school student Sara Fereydun died under suspicious circumstances in the Bineslawa neighborhood of Hewlêr (Erbil). Her death is alleged to be a suicide.

- On June 12, N.A.E. (26) was killed by her husband in the Zakho region of Duhok.

- On June 22, high school student Aşna Xesrew died under suspicious circumstances in the Soran region. It was reported that the young woman was burned to death.

On June 24, four female opposition lawyers, Shehla Ali, Munire Abdullah, Nur Ferîq, and Dilsoz Zengene, were detained without any arrest warrant in Sulaymaniyah. According to reports, the lawyers detained by security forces were subjected to physical violence while in custody.
