In the preview for the third episode of the documentary series ‘Kurdish Resurrection' [Vejîna Kurd], a previously unpublished photo of Abdullah Öcalan was presented for the first time. It shows the Kurdish leader during his time as a civil servant at the land registry office in Amed (tr. Diyarbakır) – a phase that played an important role in his political development.

The 90-part documentary series was produced by the Gulistan Tara Documentary Commune and is currently being shown on the Kurdish channels Stêrk TV and Medya Haber TV. In the third episode, entitled “The Search”, the film team focuses on Öcalan's early years: his childhood, the first moments of rebellion against family and social authorities, his school days in Ankara, his encounter with socialism and his return to Kurdistan as a young civil servant.

In addition to the previously unknown photo, the new episode also features exclusive interviews with people who have accompanied Öcalan throughout his life. Among them are his former primary school teachers, friends from school and the mosque, and colleagues from his time as a civil servant. Former classmates from Ankara, with whom he shared a boarding school and school desk, also have their say.

The project is based on eight years of intensive research and documentary work. The upcoming episodes promise more unpublished images, documents and personal testimonies from over half a century of Kurdish freedom history. The third episode of the documentary series will be broadcast on Wednesday evening on Stêrk TV (Kurdish) and on Friday evening on Medya Haber TV (Turkish). The documentary will also be available to watch on the collective's YouTube channel shortly after it airs.
