PKK guerrilla Zeynep Kınacı (Zilan) was commemorated at a military ceremony joined by commanders and guerrillas of YJA Star (Free Women's Troops) and HPG (People's Defense Forces) in Medya Defense Zones.

YJA Star commanders Hemrin Dersim, Peyman Bagok, Sodar Mardin, Reyhan Serhad and HPG commanders Seykvan Çele and Dijwar Pasurun were also present at the military ceremony which began with one minute's silence.

Speaking here, YJA Star commander Hemrin Dersim said that; “With her action of self-sacrifice, Zilan brought the Leader Apo's stance for women's freedom and self-sacrifice to top, and became a symbol of the struggle for the Kurdish women.”

Dersim continued, by stressing that the Kurdish struggle has entered a new phase attained with the spirit of Zilan, Sema and Gulans. She said; “It is thanks to the self-sacrifice spirit and free will created by Zilan that the gains of the Kurdish people in Bakur (North) and Rojava (West) Kurdistan can protect themselves today.”

Remarking that gangs backed by the AKP government have committed a massacre against civilians in Kobanê with an aim to destroy the gains of the people, Dersim underlined that the perpetrators of the massacre will be brought to book and martyrs will be avenged.

Speaking after, YJA Star commander Hemrin Dersim emphasized that; "Just like Zilan, Arin, Gelhat and all martyrs of Kurdistan, we will continue our struggle until a Kurdistan revolution is realized and the freedom of our leader and people is ensured."
