DEM Party concludes talks in Germany, moves on to the UK

A delegation led by DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan has concluded its talks in Germany. The delegation is expected to travel to the UK later today.

According to a statement by the Press Office of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), a delegation consisting of Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan, Central Executive Committee member Rezan Kağanarslan, Member of Parliament Nejla Demir, European Representative Eyyüp Doru, and Germany Representative Leyla İmret has concluded its talks in Germany today.

According to the statement, the delegation met with representatives of all parties in the Federal Parliament on Wednesday. Representatives of many parties attended the meeting. The delegation then held talks with Felix Banaszak, co-chair of the German Green Party, and other party officials.

During both meetings, the DEM Party delegation provided information about Abdullah Öcalan’s February 27 ‘Call for Peace and Democratic Society’ and the current process, and requested that all relevant parties support the call and the process.

The statement said, “At the meeting with parliamentarians, political party representatives expressed their commitment to the Peace and Democratic Society Process, stating that they view this process as transcending party politics and that they fully support it. They also stated that lasting peace and the democratization of Turkey are their fundamental aspirations. In addition, they stated that they are working to secure support for this process from the German government.”

The DEM Party will travel to the UK during the day and hold various meetings and discussions on June 26-27.
