This year's activities to mark the International Women's Day 8 March in Kobanê are being organised by Yekîtiya Star, organization of Kurdish women in Rojava (West) Kurdistan.

The activities commenced with a seminar in the building of Yekitiya Star which was attended by Yekîtiya Star members as well as many civilian women from Kobanê.

The opening speech of the seminar, which started with one minute's silence for all those martyred in the struggle for freedom, pointed out that Kobanê women will mark the 8 March with the spirit of the victory attained under the leadership of the YPJ (Women's Defense Units).

The seminar witnessed a debate on women's revolution in Rojava and violence against women throughout history.

Women led by Yekîtiya Star will visit the YPJ fighters in the battlefield tomorrow.

On 8 March, women will march to the Dicle Cemetery of the Martys' and visit the graveyars of the YPG/YPJ fighters fallen in Kobanê resistance.
