Women in Armenia: We are ready to do our part

The Free Women's Union (YJA) Assembly in Yerevan drew attention to the hunger strikes demanding the end of the isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, the death fast and the resistance of mothers.

Tamar Kalashian, president of the Free Women's Union, read a press release in Yerevan.

The statement said: "Armenian women never accept the isolation imposed on Leader Apo. We welcome the visit held by lawyers with the Leader but are aware that this visit does not mean the end of isolation. The fascist Turkish state wants to continue with the conspiracy agains the leadership.”

In response to the attacks against Kurdish mothers, the statement said: “As Kurdish women we condemn the Turkish government violence against Kurdish mothers, and we are ready to do whatever it takes."
