Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (TJKE) has issued a statement calling for mass participation in the commemoration ceremony and march to be held in Duisburg, Germany on Saturday for Ivana Hoffmann who lost her life in the fight against the ISIS gangs in Til Temir on 7 March.
TJKE quoted the following part from a letter Hoffman had left before leaving for Rojava; “I can no longer distinguish the most beautiful colors from each other; I no longer feel the wind of the city on my skin, the singing of the birds increasingly sounds like the call for freedom. I have taken a decision, I lived with these thoughts in my mind for days and nights and today is the day on which I will take this step with my will, which as trong as the current of Tigris-Euphrates. I want to be a part of the revolution in Rojava, I want to develop myself; in these 6 months, I want to get to know this fight which unites all oppressed peoples and above all, I want to defend the revolution in Rojava with my life, if necessary."
The statement of TJKE stressed that Hoffmann had been an internationalist revolutionary bridge extending from Duisburg city of Germany to Til Temir city in Rojava, adding that Hoffmann learnt much from and greatly contributed to the struggle which unites all the oppressed peoples. The statement stressed that Hoffmann dedicated her body, her labour, her soul and her existence to that struggle, adding that she took that way with a desire to change the world, fully aware of the prices she would pay in this challenging journey.
TJKE ended its statement by calling on all the women and the Kurdish people living in NRW to participate in the commemoration ceremony and the march to be held in front of Hamborn Amtsgericht in Duisburg at 13:00 on 14 March, Saturday.
