The programme of activities to mark this year's 8 March International Women’s Day in Kurdistan has been announced. This year’s activities in North Kurdistan are being organised by the World Women’s March.
Activities will take place in Nusaybin, Mardin and Amed around the topics of democratic confederalism, Rojava revolution, ecology and exploitation of nature, discussions on gynaecology, women’s labour and violence against women.
The activities will start on 6 March in Nusaybin with two panels between 09:00-11:00, one being on democratic confederalism and the Rojava Revolution, and the other on ecology and the exploitation of nature. In the afternoon, again two panels will be held on gynaecology, women’s labour and violence against women. In the evening there will be a concert featuring Mizgin Tahir.
The guests will spend the night in Nusaybin, and on the morning of 7 March, a rally will be held. The rally will take place at the border where women from Cizire Canton will be met.
In the afternoon of 7 March, another rally will take place in Mardin, which will be followed by a dance and music performance.
On 8 March, a big rally will be held in Amed, the main Kurdish city in North Kurdistan. In the evening dance performances will take place at the Cegerxwin Cultural Centre, where an exhibition on “women, labour and mystery” will take place.
On 9 March, an activity for the protection of the Tigris Valley will be organised.
