Members of the Peace Mothers Assembly have gone to Kobanê to support the reconstruction of the war-torn city of West Kurdistan, Rojava, bordering Urfa province of North Kurdistan.
22 activists of the Peace Mothers Assembly from mainly Amed, Batman, Mardin and Urfa crossed into Kobanê from Kobanê Serxet (Mürşitpınar) border gate after gathering in Suruç district of Urfa.
Speaking in Suruç, Peace Mother Hava Kıran said they, as mothers who lost their children in Kobanê, were going there to embalm their memories and support their struggle and the reconstruction of the town. “We are going there to witness at scene the bravery of the YPG/YPJ fighters against the ISIS savagery, the pains of the Kobanê people and the great victory”, she added.
Kıran stated that they would hand over the 8 thousand TL they have collected to the administration of Kobanê as a contribution to the reconstruction of the canton after a historic liberation from the ISIS. “We mothers also want to offer a contribution to the reconstruction, just like our children did to the victory. This contribution should be made by everyone. We must rebuild Kobanê at any cost, and turn the town, for which the blood of thousands was shed, back into a liveable place”, she stressed.
The group of Peace Mothers is expected to turn back to Suruç today following talks in Kobanê.
