he Kurdistan Women’s Communities (Komalen Jinen Kurdistan, KJK) has issued a written statement calling on all women to join the World March of Women.

The Kurdistan Women’s Communities (Komalen Jinen Kurdistan, KJK) has issued a written statement calling on all women to join the World March of Women, which will start this year in North Kurdistan, and added that they are dedicating this year’s 8 March to the resistance in Kobanê and Sinjar.

KJK started its statement by celebrating the International Women’s Day of all women and saluted all those who have lost their lives in the struggle for freedom and democracy. KJK called on all women to celebrate Women’s Day throughout the week of 1 March-8 March under the slogan: “We organise together with the women resisting in Kobanê and we build a free life”.

KJK said the Rojava Revolution had led to women rising up across the world and added that the Kurdish women are leading the search for an alternative life in the 21st century, which is a century of women. KJK stressed that the gains and values created by the Kurdish women in their struggle are of a revolutionary character, reaching a universal level as they realise a new, alternative social life led by women. The KJK said the organised power of Kurdish women is becoming a model for the world’s women seeking liberation of women at a universal level. KJK added that the actions and rallies to be held around 8 March will carry this determination to realise the women’s revolution in the Middle East and the world to a higher stage, manifesting the values of freedom concretised in Kurdish women.

The Kurdistan Women’s Communities drew attention to the fact that this year’s World Women’s March will start in North Kurdistan and said that this is the result of the historic and revolutionary development of the Kurdish women’s struggle. “Women’s solidarity and sharing development around resistance in Kobanê and Sinjar will be crowned by the World Women’s March. The women rising up all around the world for freedom will be a magnificent act of bringing the moment into unity with history, demonstrating the will to create free women and will call male dominance to account”, said the statement of KJK.

KJK said women will demonstrate that they are the most organised power through their solidarity and sharing and with the consciousness that life is women and must be free, and added that the organised Kurdish women will host the world’s women with this awareness of their history and identities.

KJK also stressed in its statement that Kurdish women must demonstrate their determination for the freedom of the Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan, adding that women are not only a leading force in times of war, but also in peace, which will be realised in fact through the struggle of women.

KJK also called on men to raise their awareness that they have to get along with women on equal terms and affirm free life in order to work for peace, adding that they have to wage a struggle against the male dominant mentality, culture and system.

KJK further said that 8 March is also a day of women against the exploitation of women’s labour and added that women must take to the streets in defence of their labour and to resist against its exploitation. KJK ended its statement by calling on all women to take to the streets and participate in rallies around 8 March and the World Women’s March.
