KJA (Congress of Free Women, formerly DÖKH) has issued a statement condemning the murder of two women in a quarrel over landed property in İdil district of Şırnak province.
The two women were killed during a quarrel between Çalış and Yağan families in Yağmurca (Xelânî) village in İdil (Hezex) district of Şırnak.
KJA pointed out that every day in this century has witnessed a murder of women, adding; “It is again being the women that are targeted in feudalism's tired fight for property. Unless women, who are subjected to harassment, rape and attacks every day, enhance their self-defense and organization, they will continue to face the hegemonic mindset's attempts to attack and ignore them.”
KJA emphasised that it was crucial for a free society that women strengthen their self-defense mechanism against the dominant mindset, and condemned this reactionary mentality.
The Congress of Free Women offered condolences to the families of the women killed.
