The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) which started and continues its works under the slogan “a women's party” has once again proved itself to be the party of women with the percentage of the female candidates it has nominated for the June 7 general elections in Turkey and North Kurdistan.
The HDP which is also implementing the co-chair system that conditions one male and one female chair in all its organizations, has nominated 268 women candidates out of the total 550 announced today. The party has ensured an equal representation, lacking only 7 women candidates to ensure 100 percent equality.
The Republican People’s Party (CHP) has on the other hand nominated only 103 women candidates, remaining much below the 18 percent equal representation demanded by women's organizations.
The CHP has the same rate of women's representation with the ruling Justice and Development Party (HDP) which has named 99 female candidates.
