“MY GOAL IS TO INTRODUCE SAKİNE CANSIZ TO DIFFERENT PEOPLES”

Producer Delal Yıldız spoke to the ANF about the film. Yıldız said that many directors from the Middle East and Australia have their films screened in the festival and continued, “The interest is great for our film. Everybody can tell it is a political and drama themed film at the first glance and they are interested. The interest from the international community is good, even though this is the first time that our documentary has come to a festival like this. Our goal is to introduce Sakine Cansız to different peoples and the international community. The film will be screened in a few more festivals before the end of this year. We have 4 nominations in this festival. We don’t send our film to festivals to collect awards. Sakine Cansız is no woman to be raced or be measured with awards. What’s important to us is that Cansız continues living.”

Yıldız stressed that Sakine Cansız lived a grand life and said, “Maybe a lot of people got to knew her after her death, but her life has shaped the lives of Kurds. Her resistance gave them the resolve for freedom. The ones resisting today are resisting with that resolve. This is why we chose to present the kind of life Sakine Cansız lived.”
