Female guerrillas: We will make 2015 the year of women's liberation

The military ceremony on 8 March was attended by over 400 female guerrillas and women coming from Maxmur.

Speaking after the military ceremony, KJK (Kurdistan Women’s Communities) Coordination member Esma Semsûr firstly saluted the Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan as the architect of the women's liberation struggle, and the women fighting in the battle in Rojava, Kobanê, Kirkuk and Sinjar. Samsur later commemorated all their female comrades who fell a martyr in the liberation struggle.

Putting emphasis on the importance of 8 March 2015 in terms of enhancing the freedom of women, Semsûr said that; "Thousands of women have removed the borders in Nusaybin and Qamishlo drawn by the dominant states, capitalism and male-dominant mentality. We have united Kurdistan in our heart and mind. We, women, have started the building of democratic nation with the spirit of Arin Mirkan, Destina, Gulan and Jiyan comrades this year."

'We will make 2015 the year of meeting with our Leader'

KJK Coordination member Esma Semsûr pointed out that Kurdistan Women's Freedom Movement has become a leading force for democracy, equality and freedom in the Middle East and the world this year more than ever.

Recalling that the World March of Women has commenced in Kurdistan as part of this year's 8 March activities, Semsûr said; “With this spirits, uprising and determination, we will make 2015 the year of meeting with our Leader and the liberation of women. On this basis, we wish all our comrades and women success.”

The speeches were followed by a cultural program prepared by woman guerrillas and music performances by various groups. The event ended with slogans "Long Live Leader Apo","Long live Kobanê Resistance", and "Woman, Life, Freedom" chanted in Kurdish.
