In every historical period, an event or a personality comes to the fore. They lead to a new beginning, a new step, a new oath. They become representatives of comradeship, resistance and honourable stance. They became the pioneers and guides of guerrilla warfare. Commander Botan, Zinarîn, Serhildan, Argêş, Delal, Özgür and Baz turned Girê Sor into a stronghold of resistance on 14 July and brought the spirit of resistance of Kemals and Hayris to the stage of history once again.
The occupying Turkish state launched a comprehensive operation against the Avaşîn area with a new attack concept on 21 April 2021. This operation continued in Mamreşo, Şehîd Serdar and throughout the area. At the beginning of June, the occupying Turkish state advanced towards the Basya region after failing to get results from Mamreşo, Şehîd Serdar and other positions.
They escaped from one group of guerrillas and fell into the hands of another group of guerrillas. Because Avaşîn had turned into hell for them, and they were burning in this hellfire every day. The fighters, led by commanders Botan, Zinarîn and Serhildan, prepared themselves for the resistance of that time. Their positions were the Gîrê Sor tunnels and their weapons were their faith and will. Their aim was to make Kurdistan a grave for the invading Turkish troops. Each of them led the war like a general and left the invaders breathless. The fascist Turkish state made preparations for days to approach the Girê Sor positions, carried out bombardments every day, but not a single Turkish soldier dared to approach the guerrilla positions.
They knew that the guerrilla had the courage and determination against them and that they would never leave their lands, no matter what. The stance of Girê Sor was the stance of the 14 July resistance. Three years have passed since this historic resistance. Their resistance, their will and their call are still vivid in our eyes. The Girê Sor resistance represented the PKK spirit in many ways. Wherever there is the PKK spirit, there is victory. Wherever there is a selfless fighter of Rêber Apo (Leader Abdullah Öcalan), there is no obstacle. 7 selfless fighters of Girê Sor kept the spirit of resistance of Kemal Pirs alive again. They were constantly fighting and struggling against the occupation of the Turkish state. There is one more thing that one cannot express in words: their comradeship. The right comradeship they established to achieve victory was the PKK's comradeship. They were comrades in the same cause; their goals were the same. The hearts of all seven heroes were beating at the same time for the same thing.
Just as the resistance fighters in Siyanê led by Şoreş Beytûşebab paved the way for the beginning of a new era, just as the resistance fighters led by Serhed Giravî and Rûken Gever determined how the struggle could proceed in Mamreşo, the Girê Sor resistance fighters led by commander Botan and Zinarîn became the representatives of those who loved life enough to die for it. They made Girê Sor meaningful with their blood and became comrades. Girê Sor became their headquarters with all its majesty and splendour. They reached their goal by fighting shoulder to shoulder against the occupying Turkish state. Life does not end with martyrdom; it begins again. Every martyrdom ensures the growth of the struggle and war. The heroes of Girê Sor fought non-stop, turning Girê Sor into a fortress of resistance in 80 days. For 80 days, they refused to surrender in the Girê Sor tunnels under the most difficult conditions, sacrificed their lives and responded to every attack of the fascists. For 80 days they wrote an epic of sacrifice and went down in history as the fighters of Rêber Apo.
They took the flag of resistance from Serhed, Şoreş and Rûken and waved it until their last breath. For three years, their comrades are still flying the flag they left behind. From Avaşîn to Zap, from Metîna to Western Zap, the spirit of Girê Sor resistance is kept alive. The guerrilla resistance against the occupying Turkish state, which attacked with a new concept in 2021, has reached its peak. In these years, the freedom guerrillas were strengthened at the tactical level with the resistance in Mamreşo, Girê Sor, Werxelê and Siyanê. They defended their positions to the end to destroy the invaders and collaborating traitors. Each of them became Botan and Zinarîn. They made their stance a principle of life and took their resistance as an example. They took revenge on the invaders with a sacrificial spirit. The stance that emerged in Metîna and Girê Bahar is the work of the heroes of Girê Sor. They left their mark on their own era and each of them became a symbol of resistance. Now, their comrades are proudly flying this flag of victory in Zap and Metîna.
