Turkish army officers and diplomats seek refuge in Norway

Some Turkish army officers at NATO and diplomats sought refuge in Norway after the coup attempt in Turkey of July 15, 2016.

According to Norway’s most popular newspaper VG, some Turkish army officers at NATO and diplomats sought refuge in Norway after the coup attempt in Turkey in July, 2016. These Turkish citizens are claimed to not have been involved in the coup and live in secret locations across Norway protected by guards.

CONFESS: SOME GET KILLED IN PRISON

A Turkish army officer that wanted to remain anonymous told VG that it is impossible for them to return to Turkey because he was fired from his job and his passport was cancelled when he was in Norway. The officer said that he would be arrested, tortured, forced to confess, and even get killed in prison.

Andreas Skjold Lorange, the Communication Consultant of the Norwegian Justice Ministry, neither confirmed nor denied the claims in a letter he sent to VG newspaper, and the Turkish Embassy in Oslo did not make a comment on the issue.
