Activists from Nancy take over Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil was taken over by a group of activists from Nancy in its 654th week. The activists wished for the new year to be the year of freedom for the Kurdish people’s leader.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil was launched in Strasbourg on 25 June 2012 to demand an end to isolation in Imrali and freedom for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The vigil continues in its 654th week, and in the first week of 2025, it has been taken over by a group of activists from Nancy.

The group includes Murat Torun, Piri Kızılay, Uğur Aslan and Mehmet Yurtsever. Murat Torun spoke on behalf of the activists, and said that the hopes of making the new year a year of freedom for Leader Öcalan and the peoples have increased.

Torun said: "In this historical process, we call on our people to increase the struggle everywhere, to unite around the values ​​of struggle, and to support the Rojava Revolution."
