The incident occurred while the children were playing in a field. After receiving first aid, the children were transferred to hospitals in Hesekê for treatment.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), eight people lost their lives and 16 people, 13 of them children, were injured by mines in the first days of 2025. The observatory warned that similar cases could increase if demining work in the region is not accelerated.
