A press conference will be held in the Federal Parliament on Friday about the discussions on German police forces’ recent attacks on Kurdish demonstrations and the expansion of the PKK ban.

The press conference will be held in the Jakob Kaiser building of the Federal Parliament Friday morning and Germany Democratic Kurdish Society Center (NAV-DEM) Co-chair Ayten Kaplan, Die Linke MP Ulla Jelpke, HDP MP Tuğba Hezer and lawyer Lukas Theune will be attending.

The press conference will draw attention to the Federal German Government’s recent steps that could be read as support for the Erdoğan regime, and talk about the damage the PKK ban is doing the Kurds in Germany and their allies.

The call for the press conference includes the increased violence of the German police against Kurdish demonstrations and mentions the raid on academic Kerem Schamberger’s home in Munich on November 13 for sharing YPG, YPJ and PYD flags on social media.

In the press conference, NAV-DEM and Die Linke MPs are expected to call on the Interior Ministry to pull back their demand to ban flags and banners of Kurdish parties and institutions including the YPG, YPJ, PYD, PJAK, YXK and NAV-DEM that they sent to the states in a notice on March 2, 2017.

Lukas Theune, one of the lawyers of Kurdish politicians and activists on trial in Germany, is expected to draw attention to the unlawful practices in courts.
