Peoples rise up for Rojava on World Resistance Day

Tens of thousands are pouring into the streets to highlight their solidarity with the people of Rojava and northern Syria who are resisting the Turkish state's genocidal offensive seeking to invade their lands.

Masses are taking to the streets today to mark 2 November World Resistance Day for Rojava to protest against the Turkish genocidal campaign seeking to invade North and East Syria and to commend the resistance against it.

STRASBOURG

Kurds and their friends held a demonstration in the French city of Strasbourg to mark 2 November. Hundreds of Kurdish and French activists joined the march from Strasbourg Station to the Kleber Square where a rally was held. Speakers denounced that the Turkish state targeted the revolution of the peoples in Rojava that is based on freedom and equality.

TOULOUSE

The French city of Toulouse also witnessed a demonstration on occasion of 2 November, World Resistance Day. Demonstrators protested Turkey’s invasion attacks and called for increased solidarity with Rojava.

TRONDHEIM

In Trondheim city of Norway, people took to the streets and condemned the attacks of the Turkish state and allied mercenaries.

BRUSSELS

In Belgium’s capital city Brussels, thousands of people took to the streets answering the call of the international campaign #RiseUp4Rojava for worldwide demonstrations against Turkish invasion of northernr Syria.

Speakers, who included KCDK-E Co-chair Yüksel Koç, called for international action to stop Turkey’s campaign against Rojava that violates international law and is marked by grave war crimes and crimes against humanity.

RENNES

World Resistance Day was markd with a march from Place de Colombier to the Republique Square in Rennes city of France. Kurds and their friends expressed their solidarity with the historic resistance against Turkish invasion of Rojava.

MADRID

Around 200 people held a rally at the Foreign Affairs Ministry Square in Madrid today. Demonstrators read aloud the names of martyrs and wrote them on a banner which will be completed and will accompany all future actions to be held in Madrid. A statement highlighting 10 demands from global powers and the Spanish government was read out. The demonstration ended with Kurdish dance halay representing unity and solidarity.

FRANKFURT

Thousands of people joined the demonstration in the German city of Frankfurt to mark World Resistance Day for Rojava promoted by the #RiseUp4Rojava campaign.

The march from the central train station was followed by a rally at the Romer Square where Eyşe Efendi addressed the crowd via phone and said the following: “We salute all the peoples who take to the streets for Rojava. In the same way we fought ISIS, we will protect our lands against the Turkish state that attacks Rojava to avenge ISIS. We will respond to the Turkish state like we stood against ISIS in Kobanê under the lead of women.”

German doctor Michael Milk who went to Rojava with a group of colleagues to provide medical assistance, said; “Humanity has been left alone in Rojava. All the NGOs operating in Rojava and Syria have left the region after the launch of Turkey’s military offensive. Kurdish Red Crescent Heyva Sor a Kurd issued an urgent call for Rojava which is in urgent need of medical and logistic support.”

BORDEAUX

Kurds and their French friends staged a march from Ecociyoten Square to Place de Victoire in Bordeaux city of France, chanting “Rojava is our honor, let’s claim our honor”. Demonstrators handed out flyers informing about the Turkish offensive against Rojava.

BARCELONA

In Barcelona, capital city of Catalonia, a massive demo was held to mark World Resistance Day for Rojava. The demonstration was joined by a number of people from Kurdistan, Catalonia and Spain.

The mass chanted slogans commending the resistance of Rojava and condemning the fascism of Erdoğan as they marched through the streets of the city. During the following rally, they denounced the genocidal attacks of the Turkish state and called for solidarity with Rojava.

Commemorating Kurdish politicial Havrin Khalaf and martyrs of Rojava who were murdered by Turkish-backed mercenaries, the demonstrators handed out leaflets about the Turkish state’s war against the Kurds and other peoples in North and East Syria.
