Prisoners in Antalya have announced their support for the historic call made by Abdullah Öcalan on 27 February.
In a letter sent through their lawyers, the prisoners affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the Kurdistan Free Women’s Party (PAJK) in Antalya S-Type High-Security Prison stated: "We call on our peoples to unite around the struggle and to achieve their freedom through their own efforts."
In their letter, the prisoners said: "We send our greetings to our comrades leading the campaign under the slogan ‘Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, Democratic Solution to the Kurdish Question,’ to our freedom-loving people, to those carrying forward the struggle for Kurdistan’s liberation, to our friends holding vigil in Tishrin, to our resisting people, and to all those fighting for the freedom of Mr. Öcalan. At a time when we are engaged in a struggle for freedom and standing in rebellion against the system, as the Kurdish people, we continue to pay the price every day. This sacrifice is a testament to our struggle."
The prisoners added that "with the philosophy of our leader (Abdullah Öcalan), the labor and resistance of our people and comrades, this society has been built, and the struggle continues. We have achieved results to some extent, and the voice of freedom has reached the world. This is a new era for struggle. Our leader has prepared us for a new future and shown us a new path. Because we have intensified our struggle, the occupying state has been forced to engage with Mr. Öcalan. The only path to move Turkey and Kurdistan forward is the philosophy of freedom put forth by Öcalan. The struggle for freedom is crucial, and today, the freedom of Mr. Öcalan is more necessary than ever."
The prisoners continued: "The discussions and statements made by the special warfare media and its so-called experts expose the true nature of the occupying Turkish state. Although there is a deep-rooted problem at hand, assuming that the disarmament of the freedom movement will define this new process would be the biggest mistake. The state aims to obstruct the process by reducing it to this narrow perspective, using manipulative and deceptive language. Öcalan is the honor of the Kurdish people. The freedom movement and every individual within it represent their dignity. How can those who attack our honor bring about an honorable peace? How can they expect to achieve anything meaningful in the face of our resistance? This is why our people must remain vigilant and well-informed against these manipulations. For us, the fundamental freedom of our leader is the core of our people’s values. Whether young or old, everyone must come together to support Öcalan and the freedom struggle, as the isolation continues and so do the genocidal attacks. Given that a nationwide genocide is unfolding, expecting anything different is a delusion."
The prisoners added: "The murderers of Kurds will never grant them freedom; this is a dangerous illusion. Freedom will only be achieved through our struggle. The prisoners of the freedom movement will remain at the heart of this moral and ideological call and will reaffirm their unwavering commitment to Mr. Öcalan under all circumstances. We call on our peoples to unite around the struggle and to achieve their freedom through their own efforts. We urge our people to come together, to resist, and to win.
In the spirit of Rojger and Asya, Erdal and Rojhat, Ruken and Sara, we salute all those who heed this call."
