Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi said that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) leader, Abu Mohammad al-Colani (Ahmed Sharaa), should hold those responsible for the attacks to account for the attacks against Alawites in western Syria. In a written statement to Reuters, Mazloum Abdi said al-Jolani should intervene to stop the massacres.
Stating that in addition to Turkey-backed paramilitary structures, pro-ISIS groups were primarily responsible for the attacks, Abdi called on al-Jolani to “review” the method of forming the new Syrian army and the behavior of the armed groups. Abdi said that some groups were using their roles within the army to “create sectarian conflicts and engage in internal conflicts.”
Turkey did not comment
The Turkish Defense Ministry declined to comment on Abdi's statements, and the Foreign Ministry did not respond to Reuters either.
