The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) issued a written statement regarding the massacre in Syria's coastal cities. The statement condemned the attacks and emphasized that such crimes pose a serious threat to Syria's future.
The statement said that the people of Syria had hopes for peace and stability after the collapse of the Baath regime, and added: "However, the massacres carried out in coastal cities in the past week reveal that the government's mentality has not yet been overcome."
The Autonomous Administration said that such attacks dragged the country into a dark period again, and drew attention to the fact that such crimes constitute a serious obstacle to Syria's becoming democratic and pluralistic. The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria "strongly condemned these brutal attacks on people. Such actions are trying to bring back a dark period that the Syrian people do not want to experience again.
We call for those responsible for these crimes to be brought to justice. Independent investigation committees must act fairly and transparently, revealing the truth and holding those responsible accountable. On this occasion, we once again call on all national forces and the Syrian people to engage in a national dialogue that will protect the country's future and produce common solutions. Only in this way can we stop the massacres and policies of annihilation against the Syrian people."
