Constitutional Court returns HDP indictment by unanimous vote

Turkish Constitutional Court decided to return the indictment in its first examination of the closure case against the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) at its agenda meeting.

A closure case against HDP had been launched by Supreme Court Chief Public Prosecutor Bekir Şahin. The Turkish Constitutional Court (AYM) made the first examination at its agenda meeting on Wednesday.

The General Assembly ruled to return the indictment to the Supreme Court of Appeals Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the completion of procedural deficiencies in the indictment.

Should the deficiencies be completed and presented, a re-examination will be conducted.

The General Assembly will meet again on a day to be determined later on, and decide whether the indictment will be accepted or not.
