Autonomous Administration calls for action to stop the attacks and protect civilians from massacre

Stating that the Turkish state targeted civilians, the Autonomous Administration called on international forces to protect civilians and vowed that, “We will continue to defend our land and our people.”

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) issued a written statement regarding the ongoing attacks by the Turkish state and allied mercenaries against the region.

Remarking that the Turkish state aims to take advantage of the chaos in Syria and destabilise the stability in the region, DAANES said: “The occupying Turkish state completely violates international law and norms and carries out massacres against our people in northern Syria and eastern Syria. Its aim is to benefit from the chaos in Syria and to destabilise security and stability in the region.

Today, the occupying Turkish state and its mercenaries have once again revealed their aggression against the region. The drones of the Turkish state and the mercenaries it supports carried out another massacre in the village of Sefiya, west of Ain Issa, and killed 8 civilians from the same family.”

The Autonomous Administration stated that this attack is part of the Turkish state’s systematic massacres against the people of the region and noted that 12 civilians had been killed in another attack on a village of Ain Issa two days ago.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria strongly condemned the attacks and stressed that the international community and human rights organisations must take action against these crimes: “The silence of the international community further encourages the crimes of the Turkish state and leads to an increase in attacks against the people of the region.”

DAANES called on international legal institutions and human rights organisations to document the crimes and bring the perpetrators before international courts. It stressed that international powers should take a serious stance to protect civilians and stop attacks.

The Autonomous Administration stated that the will of the people of the region will not be broken and that the occupation will be confronted by all means.

The statement concluded: “In the face of these large-scale crimes, we will continue to defend our land and our people. The sacrifices of our martyrs will continue to shed light on our struggle for freedom and honour.”
