People of Qamishlo vow to resist Turkey’s attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria

The people of Qamishlo, vowed to resist Turkey’s attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria, and said that they will defend their land in unity and solidarity.

Turkey's continuous attacks are targeting people, houses and infrastructure of Northern and Eastern Syria. These attacks have killed dozens of civilians, including children, and have struck sources of livelihood, hospitals, bakeries, infrastructure, and fuel centers. Despite these attacks, the people say they will resist.

Citizen Xeyriye Hesen said: "The occupying Turkish state is striking the people’s livelihoods - their bread, water, electricity. With these attacks, Turkey is trying to force people to leave their homes and lands, forcing them to migrate. Despite the heavy attacks, we have shown incredible resistance. Not a single person abandoned their home. The fear that marked the first days of the revolution is behind us. We did not sit at home even for one day; we were constantly on the streets, and our resistance chants echoed everywhere. Turkey’s attacks weren’t the first, and they won’t be the last. We have become accustomed to these assaults. Knowing the purpose behind them and raising awareness strengthens our struggle."

‘Silence is complicity’

Xeyriye Hesen also spoke about the silence of international powers, and said: "Silence is complicity. This partnership will end up as a futile alliance of states, and the winners will be the brotherhood of peoples. Throughout history, the truth of the resisting people is remembered with praise, while the hypocrisy of the states is condemned. These powers have never acted in the interest of the people. They have collaborated in massacres, bloodshed, and oppression. They have spilled the blood of the people. We will not ask for our rights from those who have denied them to us. Through resistance, struggle, and, if necessary, by fighting, we will reclaim our rights."

‘The people are resisting’

Mihemed Xelîl said that the people of Northern and Eastern Syria have come this far with limited resources, and added: "The Turkish state’s attacks target the people, and our institutions and organizations have suffered greatly. After each attack, the Autonomous Administration puts in enormous effort for months to repair the damage.

Just when we’ve managed to restore things and can finally live peacefully, Turkey targets the infrastructure again, forcing us to start from scratch. There is no greater oppression than this. Despite this devastation and cruelty, the people continue to resist. In fact, as attacks intensify, we witness an increase in resistance, a strengthening of unity and solidarity. Therefore, through the current resistance, the Turkish state’s assaults have been neutralized."

‘The spirit of the revolution is unbreakable’

Gelawêj Mihemed stressed that the people are following in the footsteps of martyrs and are not intimidated by the Turkish state's occupation attacks, and added: "They kill children, women, and the elderly. They strike at our livelihoods, trying to break the people’s spirit with special warfare tactics. But they won’t be able to harm the spirit of the revolution. We know that material losses are severe, and we face a challenging winter ahead, but we have chosen to resist. Our people have endured great suffering and have paid a heavy price to come to the situation we are in. In these lands, in every house there is a martyr. We have overcome difficult days through resistance, and we will overcome today’s challenges in the same way."

Gelawêj Mihemed continued: "We condemn the silence of hegemonic powers that call themselves international and state actors. Even if they remain silent, we will not stay silent; we will not surrender to the attacks. We, the people of Northern and Eastern Syria, created this revolution with our hands and labor. It is our duty and responsibility to protect it. We have come this far through resistance and determination. Moving forward, we will strengthen our self-defense and will not allow the attacks to succeed."

‘We will not leave our land’

Hisên Ebdurrahman condemned the attacks carried out by the Turkish state, and said:  "Despite its brutal attacks, the Turkish state has not been able to break the will of the peoples of Northern and Eastern Syria. It aims to leave us hungry, without electricity, and without water by targeting the region's infrastructure. It tries to prevent us from sitting in our warm homes during the winter days. Even if we are left hungry, thirsty, and without electricity, we will not abandon our land."

‘We Stand by the Autonomous Administration’

Hisên Ebdurrahman continued: "They are targeting civilians without distinguishing between children, women, or the elderly. Children and the elderly are adversely affected by the intense attacks. Fear is inevitably experienced. Hospitals, bakeries, and fuel centers are being targeted. The essential needs for people's survival are being destroyed. They want to leave the people hungry.

They are trying to sow discord between the Autonomous Administration and the people through starvation policies. However, our people are aware of the true face of the Turkish state. We will stand by our Autonomous Administration until the end. We will resist until the last moment of our lives, and we will inscribe our names in history through resistance. The peoples have united through resistance. We overcome tough days together, hand in hand. The resistance of the peoples has been the best response to the Turkish state."
