‘Turkish attacks on northern and eastern Syria are war crimes’

Civil society organisations in Hesekê described the attacks of the Turkish state targeting the sources of life as war crimes.

Civil society organisations in Hesekê made a statement regarding the recent wave of attacks by the occupying Turkish state against Northern and Eastern Syria.

The statement was read in Til Hajer neighbourhood of Hesekê to the accompaniment of dozens of members of civil society organisations and representatives of political parties.

The statement strongly condemned the invasion attacks against the region and the targeting of vital centres serving citizens.

“The continuous attacks of the Turkish army against civilians in northern and eastern Syria are war crimes,” the statement said, adding that the attacks are a clear violation of international humanitarian law and contrary to the security and stability of the region.

The statement called for a halt to attacks on civilians, infrastructure and vital institutions and respect for international humanitarian law.

The statement called on the United Nations Security Council and the European Union to take urgent measures to protect civilians and their fundamental rights.
