Kurdish PEN, MYD and Kurdish Writers Association hold signing day for imprisoned writers
Kurdish PEN, MYD and Kurdish Writers Association organized a signing day for imprisoned writers in Mardin.
Kurdish PEN, Mesopotamia Writers Association (MYD) and Kurdish Literary Writers Association signed the books of imprisoned writers Fecrîye Benek, Delîl Payiz, Rojbîn Perîşan, Evdê Cano, Nezîr Çakan, Yaşar Aslan, Mem Fargînî, Mahîr Bagok, Cengiz Eker and İlhan Dayan.
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Mardin MP Pero Dündar attended the signing day, which was held at the Confederation of Public Workers' Unions (KESK) Mardin Branch building, along with many writers and poets. Authors' books were signed by 5 Kurdish authors.
Author Ahmet Çelik spoke at the event and said that they held their first signing day in Diyarbakır. He added that they held the second event in Mardin. Noting that they organized an event in this direction to draw attention to the imprisoned writers, Çelik stated that they were pleased with the interest of the public.
Calling for support by reading the books of imprisoned authors, Çelik said that their actions will continue. He said that their next stop will be Şırnak, Batman and Van, Çelik said that they will then hold the same event in Anatolian provinces, Istanbul and other cities.
