MILAN

Turkey’s decision to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention was protesting in Milan with an action held in Arco della Pace.

Hundreds of women joined the action dancing El violador eres tu, the performance gone viral thanks to Chilean women.

Representatives of participating groups spoke at the action and said that Turkish President Erdogan is trying to protect his dictatorship and intimidate all women, especially Kurdish women.

Speaking on behalf of the Kurdish committee, Hazal Koyuncuer pointed out that the lack of concrete sanctions against Erdogan by the European Union and the continuation of commercial relations encouraged the Turkish president to continue with human rights violations.

A group of women activists marched to the Turkish Consulate after the demonstration.

DARMSTADT

Roza Women's Association, German and Turkish left, protested Turkey’s withdrawing from the Istanbul Convention in the German city of Darmstadt.

Speakers said that Erdogan's signing the decree for the withdraw from the Istanbul Convention meant targeting all women, feminists, revolutionaries.

Roza Women's Association's activists also drew attention to the isolation imposed on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.
