Kurds and Swiss institutions gathered in Basel on Saturday on the 9th anniversary of the Paris Massacre. BastA Party co-chair Sina Deiss said that the resistance line marked by Sakine Cansız was seen in the magnificent resistance of women in Kobanê.
Thousands of people marched in Basel demanding truth about the killing of 3 Kurdish female revolutionaries in Paris on 9 January 2013.
The demonstration was promoted by the Swiss Kurdish Women's Institution (YJK-S) and was attended by thousands of people from all walks of life, especially women's institutions, from Switzerland, Kurdistan and Turkey.
PKK founder Sakine Cansız (Sara), was killed on 9 January 2013 in Paris together with KNK Paris Representative Fidan Doğan (Rojbîn) and Youth Movement member Leyla Şaylemez (Ronahî). Activists in Basel also paid tribute to the women killed during the self-government resistance on 4 January 2016, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Party Assembly member, Sêvê Demir, Kongreya Jinên Azad (KJA) activist, Fatma Uyar and Silopi People's Assembly Co-chair, Pakize Nayır.
TJK-E member Zozan Serhad said that this massacre was not separated from the international conspiracy against Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, and added that the French state's insistence on not revealing the real culprits of this massacre lies in its partnership with the massacre.
Serhad said: "The ongoing massacres of women in four parts of Kurdistan today target the liberation of Kurdish women."
BastA Party co-chair, Sina Deiss, said that the resistance line marked by Sakine Cansız was seen in the magnificent resistance of women against ISIS in Kobanê. “We, the women who continue the women's struggle in the world, support the resistance philosophy of Sakine Cansız, and the Kurdish women in Kobanê. We witnessed the struggle of women.”
After the speeches in which the French state was called to shed light on the massacre, the activists marched with slogans exposing the partnership of the murderous Turkish state and the French state in the massacre.
The march turned into a rally in the Claramatte park area. A memorial corner was prepared with the photographs of Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan, Leyla Şaylemez, Fatma Uyar, Pakize Nayır and Sêvê Demir in the demonstration area. Candles were lit here for 6 women revolutionaries.
