The Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe (TJK-E) issued a written statement to mark the birthday of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan on 4 April.

TJK-E said in the statement: "With his life, his thoughts, his philosophy and the freedom struggle he believes in and represents, Leader Abdullah Öcalan proved that rebirth is possible on the basis of freedom for the humanity."

TJK-E added: "This year we celebrate Apo's brithday in very different conditions. The AKP-MHP fascist regime has continued to carry out its policy of isolation, imposing it not only on Öcalan but on the whole Kurdish society. The capitalist system forces, the nation-state system and the patriarchal mentality are seeking to turn the chaos and crisis of our world into an opportunity for their own interests."

TJK-E continued: "Let's gather around the institutions and organizations of the democratic confederal system based on communal thought, communal production, creation and sharing, which is our free, equal model of life. Let's teach our children the understanding and culture of democratic, ecological, women's freedom-based life that Leader Öcalan represents."

The statement ended with this remarks: "Let's grow our communes and councils and universalize them. We believe that our young women will represent the ideology of Leader Öcalan at its best, correct and beautiful way and spread it to the society. Let's celebrate Leader Öcalan's birthday with this determination and creative methods despite the existing quarantine conditions."
