Sakine Cansız, a co-founder of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party), Fidan Doğan, KNK (Kurdistan National Congress) Representative in Paris, and Leyla Şaylemez, member of Kurdish Youth Movement, were brutally executed in the heart of Paris on 9 January 2013. Tens of thousands have gathered in the French capital today to commemorate the three Kurdish revolutionaries who worked both to denounce the persecution of Kurds and for a path toward a just and lasting peace through dialogue.

Today's demo to mark the third year of the brutal executions will be the last part of a week-long event of remembrance, which kicked off with the presentation of a documentary on life of Sakine Cansız, “Sara-My whole life was a struggle”.

Thousands coming from across Europe have flocked to Paris today to join the march for three Kurdish women, which started from Gar Du Nord under the main slogan“Em Edalet Dixwezin” [We Demand Justice].

Demonstrators carried photos of Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez, as well as of Sêvê Demir, Fatma Uyar and Pakize Nayır who were similarly executed by Turkish security forces in Şırnak's Silopi district 5 days ago.

KONGRA-GEL co-chair Remzi Kartal, KCK Executive Council Member Zübeyir Aydar, KCD-E co-chairs Dilşah Osman and Murat Ceylan, as well as representatives of Kurdish institutions, communist and socialist parties and politicians are joining the march which will end with a rally at Bastille Square.
