The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Urfa Women's Assembly and Free Women's Movement (TJA) commemorated Sêvê Demir, Pakize Nayır and Fatma Uyar, who were murdered in Silopi, Şırnak, on 4 January 2016.

The memorial for the three Kurdish women politicians murdered by state forces was held at the HDP provincial building. HDP Deputy Ayşe Sürücü joined the memorial with many women from the city. The event started with the screening of a video.

Sürücü spoke also about the three Kurdish politicians murdered in Paris on 9 January 2013. She said that Sakine Cansız was one of the leading figures to fight and win women's gains.

"After the murder of Sakine Cansız and her comrades - said Sürücü - three other women, Sêvê Demir, Pakize Nayır and Fatma Uyar, were also murdered during the repressive times of curfew. First they killed these three women and then they destroyed the Kurdish cities. Nusaybin, Cizre, Sur were destroyed and their people killed."

Sürücü added: "We are expanding our struggle with the power we receive from these women. Today, the women's freedom movement has grown in the world. The whole world witnessed our struggle."
