A woman was raped at the Kurubaş Removal Center (GGM) affiliated to the Van Provincial Immigration Administration, located on the road to Van center and Gürpınar district.

The rape  took place on 22 July. An Iranian woman named Z.M. was quarantined in the GGM for precautionary purposes. On the night of the same day, after the lights went out, I.H.K., a security guard at the GGM, entered the room and raped the woman. The horror for the Z.M. continued when another guard, called Y.V. also raped her, and so did a third man.

On 26 July, the Iranian refugee woman reported the rape to the Director of the GGM. The woman, whose statement was taken by Edremit Gendarmerie Command, identified I.H.K and Y.V. as two of the men who raped her. After the medical report, the two security guards, whose statements were taken by the gendarmerie, were arrested and charged with " sexual abuse". They were sent to Van T Type Closed Prison.

I.H.K. said in his statement: "I am devoted to my country and nation.” It was learned that he denied the rape by saying "it is slander”. Y.V. too denied the rape. It has been learned that the indictment has not yet been prepared.
