Hasan Basri Fırat, the grandson of Sheikh Said, emphasized that Abdullah Öcalan represents the historical memory, political foresight, and future vision of the Kurdish people, stating that the methods of struggle he has proposed will always bring gains to the Kurdish people.

Fırat highlighted that the new political approach developed by Mr. Öcalan aims not at conflict, but at building a democratic society, marking an important turning point toward achieving lasting gains through the people’s own strength.

Fırat said: “The Kurdish people are no longer merely demanding their rights; they are now in a position to shape their own future. This is a struggle we will win by walking together. Our future will be determined by this struggle.”

Fırat underlined that Mr. Öcalan’s call for peace and democracy should be understood as the expression of a political consciousness built on years of experience and noted that this consciousness also reflects a firm determination.

Fırat said: “Today, the Kurdish people have reached a point where they are able to shape their own future. Mr. Öcalan’s ideas have played a major role in this. The Kurdish people have carried out this struggle for a century. Thanks to this struggle, denial has been stopped. We have now reached a stage where we can bring it to a conclusion. That is why, if we unite around the new method of struggle proposed by Mr. Öcalan, our people will be able to determine their future on a democratic and legal basis.”

Fırat emphasized the importance of securing the achievements of the Rojava struggle, which has taken shape through the politics and ideas put forward by Mr. Öcalan, and said: “The struggle and the model established by the Kurdish people in Rojava have created a powerful impact around the world. The method of struggle developed by Mr. Öcalan emerged in Rojava, and it represents a more just and peaceful path, not only for the Kurdish people but for the entire region. These achievements show how vital and how rightful this struggle is. That is why it is worth saying again: Mr. Öcalan’s call is a call that will shape the future of our people.”

Basri Fırat expressed his belief that the Kurdish people will achieve results through the struggle they develop around Mr. Öcalan’s call, without expecting anything from the state or any other power. He said: “This is a new process. For this process to move forward and reach a conclusion, Mr. Öcalan must be free. His freedom will contribute not only to the Kurdish people but to the peace of the entire region.”

Finally, Fırat made a call to the Kurdish people: “My plea to the Kurdish people is this: we must unite in order to secure the achievements of this century-long struggle, carried out through great resistance and sacrifice, and to safeguard our rights. With Mr. Öcalan’s new call, let us strengthen him, empower his position, and unite around him so that we can bring this struggle to a conclusion through the achievements of the Kurdish people.”
