Support for the “No” campaign is growing every day.
Speaking to ANF, Peace Mothers announced their support to the campaign and explained their reasons for saying “No”.
Mother Kudret: “Kurds have faced constant oppression and tyranny from the Turkish state in the past and today. Our villages were burnt down, our homes were pillaged, but no period has been as bad for us as this AKP period. Especially throughout Erdoğan’s Prime Ministry and Presidency, hundreds of innocent children of the Kurdish people were massacred. I say ‘No’ to the presidential system so our children won’t die.
Mother Hayriye: “Since the day the AKP came to power, they have given the Kurds nothing but death and destruction. I say ‘No’ to the presidential system for Mother Taybet, whose body was left out on the street for days, and for the bodies of children kept in freezers!”
Mother Perihan: “The presidential system means tyranny for the Kurds and for other peoples. I say ‘No’ so cities won’t be destroyed, villages won’t be burned, children won’t die and politicians are not arrested.”
Mother Seher: “Erdoğan and the AKP Government strung Kurds along with words of peace in the 3-year long negotiation period. Even though we saw that this process was filled with lies and inched along only on the unilateral efforts by the Kurds, we kept silent for the hope of peace. After 3 years, the AKP government destroyed the negotiations, shelved the peace discourse and declared war on the Kurds once again. In the war that ensued, they tried to tame the Kurds with dungeons and death in one hand and they bombed Kurdish cities in the other. I say ‘No’ to the presidential system so the war the state started in Kurdistan will stop and peace will be established.”
