Thousands of women gathered together in Van on November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
In Van, Free Women Movement (TJA) and Women Council of HDP organized a meeting under the slogan: “We will stop women genocide and free life” in Van’s Musa Anter Peace Park. Thousands of women attended the meeting despite freezing cold and chanter “Jin Jiyan Azadi – Women Life Freedom”.
HDP MP Feleknas Uca and Bedia Ozgokce delivered a speech to women and called for peace and freedom for Abdullah Ocalan.
Messages from DBP co-chair Sebahat Tuncel and HDP’s former co-chair Sebahat Tuncel was read to the crowd.
HDP’s co-chair Serpil Kamalbay called for an end to violence and resume of the negotiations between Ocalan and the government. She also said that the isolation on Abdullah Ocalan should end immediately for peace and democratization of the country.
Also in Diyarbakir representatives from women organizations gathered together in Diyarbakir’s Kosuyolu Park and commemorated women who sacrificed their lives for the women’s freedom struggle.
