On day 186 of her fast, Kurdish politician Leyla Güven sent Mother’s Day message.
Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MP Leyla Güven has been on an indefinite hunger strike for 186 days demanding the end of the isolation regime executed against Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Imralı Island Prison.
Güven sent a message over social media to mark Mother’s Day;
“Let nobody relieve their consciences by uttering sorrowful words regarding the violence committed against Kurdish mothers. It is those mothers that have shown us a new way by putting their lives on the line to solve a problem that numerous politicians couldn’t. Our part could only be to walk on this path. Let us promise them an honorable peace.”
