A commemoration ceremony for the three Kurdish revolutionaries murdered in Paris and three in Silopi took place in Mardin.
Sakine Cansiz, Fidan Dogan and Leyla Şaylemez, who were murdered in Paris on 9 January 2013, and Sêvê Demir, Fatma Uyar and Pakize Nayır, who were murdered in Silopi, Şırnak on 4 January 2016, were remembered in Mardin. Many people answered the call of the Free Women's Movement (TJA) and attended the commemoration in the building of the provincial association of the HDP. The participants lit candles in front of the pictures of the martyrs.
Halime Kaya from the Peace Mothers' Council said: "We condemn these massacres and the mentality behind them, we remember our fallen friends and respectfully bow down before them."
HDP provincial association co-chair Perihan Ağaoğlu stressed the need to demand accountability for the massacres and vowed continuation of resistance. The commemoration ended under the slogan "Martyrs are immortal".
