Kongreya Star condemned the embargo against Maxmur as well as the Turkish state air strikes against both Maxmur and guerrilla areas and the recent murder of an 80-year-old mother in Afrin.

Kongra Star said that the tension around Zînî Wertê created concern in the democratic public in terms of the Kurdish unity and its free future. "It is very clear that these developments target Kurdish values in the short, medium and long term."

The statement warned: "Occupation operations carried out by the Turkish state in South Kurdistan since 1990 will be made permanent and spread to all of South Kurdistan if they are not stopped."

Underlining that this tension will create extremely risky and dangerous situations for the Kurdish people and all the forces fighting for freedom, Kongra Star added: "We expect the KDP, PUK and PKK to meet on common grounds, establish a political dialogue and solve this problem."

Kongra Star asked for the national unity efforts to be urgently on the agenda. "We invite all Kurdish patriots, democrats, leftists, socialists, intellectuals, artists, civil society and women's movements, tribal and faith leaders to increase their efforts and actions so that the process does not turn into a Kurdish civil war."

The statement also said: "We greet the sensitivity of our South Kurdistan people towards Zînê Wertê on the basis of the joint planning of the KDP and the Turkish state."

Kongra Star ended the statement with a call on all Kurdistan political, democratic forces to "expose the invasion and genocidal policies of the Turkish state and to raise the organized struggle for Kurdish unity and against those policies."
