The General Command of the Internal Security Forces said in a statement that "while the ISIS threat and the activities of terrorist cells in the Deir ez-Zor canton increase, our forces are increasing their efforts to ensure security and stability."

The statement confirmed that ISIS mercenaries attacked the Internal Security Forces security post in the Ziban town of Deir ez-Zor canton on Wednesday night, and added that the attackers, on a motorbike, used RPG weapons. "Our forces at the scene responded quickly to the attack and there was no loss of life among our forces. The attackers fled as a result of the pressure of our forces' rapid intervention.

We reaffirm once again that our forces will fulfill their duties to ensure security and stability, continue the fight against the ISIS gang cells and hold them accountable for their crimes."
