SDF thwarts two simultaneous ISIS attacks in Deir ez-Zor’s eastern countryside

For the second day in a row, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) successfully repelled ISIS terrorist cells attacks targeting our positions in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

On Monday, SDF forces foiled two simultaneous terrorist attacks by ISIS cells in the towns of Dhiban and al-Shuhail  in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

According to the SDF Press Center, the first attack occurred late Monday/Tuesday night, when an ISIS terrorist cell targeted a military post belonging to the Dhiban Brigade using rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs). At the same time, a second terrorist cell attacked another military point belonging to SDF forces in al-Shuhail using PKC machine guns and AK-47 rifles.

"Thanks to the vigilance and readiness of our fighters, both attacks were successfully thwarted. Our forces engaged the attacking cells, forcing them to flee under heavy fire. No casualties were reported among our ranks. However, there were confirmed casualties among the attacking ISIS elements, though the exact number remains unknown," the SDF Press Center said.

The statement added: "Our forces remain steadfast in their mission to track down the remnants of ISIS terrorist cells, target their hideouts, and eliminate the threat they pose to the region and the world."
