Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari deputy Leyla Güven is to remain in prison after the 9th Heavy Penal Court in Diyarbakir voted to continue her detention.

Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court President Galip Akpınar, who had previously issued a release decision for Güven, did not participate at the vote.

It was stated that the President of the Court received a report. The news led to comments that he was actually pressured to decide against the decision to release the HDP deputy.
